The Durban Metro is more than just the city of Durban with its natural harbour, busy port and Golden Mile of impressive international hotels and glorious beaches - regarded as the definitive coastal ‘playground in the sun’. Rather, Durban Metro is a region that extends up to Umhlanga Rocks to the north, to Inchanga and Botha's Hill in the west, and just beyond Yellowwood Park in the south.

Some of the areas and suburbs it includes are the likes of Glenashley, Hillcrest, Queensburgh, Westville, Glenwood, Greyville, Kloof, La Lucia, Morningside, Sherwood, Sydenham and the city of Durban itself. Durban Metro offers a diverse and interesting collection of things to do and attractions in and around the third largest city in South Africa, with a climate that arguably places it in top position for all year-round accessibility. Durban is the epitome of East meets West, where a strong Indian influence translates into some of the finest curries in the country; where mosques stand alongside historical Victorian buildings, and all is united by a profusion of subtropical indigenous and exotic trees, shrubs and flowers that need little persuasion to grow effusively.

The outdoors is a major focus and Durban Metro not only boasts the warm Indian Ocean and various water-focused theme parks, like uShaka Marine World, it also functions as the gateway to two World Heritage sites – the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park and the Greater St Lucia Wetlands Park. Just beyond its boundaries, Durban Metro boasts the beautiful Dolphin Coast, and the historical Battlefields, whilst closer to home are the Valley of a Thousand Hills, the Kranzkloof Nature Reserve, and the little towns of Kloof and Hillcrest.
